Homepage Fill a Valid Peco Service And Meter Application Form
Content Navigation

The PECO Service and Meter Application form is a comprehensive document required for requesting electric services and meter installation or modifications from PECO. This form facilitates various requests, including new service connections, load increases or decreases, service reintroductions after a disconnection, temporary service setups, changes or upgrades to existing service, and requests related to demolition or construction activities. To ensure accurate and efficient processing, applicants must provide detailed information such as the customer's name, service and billing addresses, identification number, and specific details about the service request, including the type and characteristics of the service, meter information, heating and air conditioning details, and load characteristics. Additionally, the form requires details about the electrician or builder involved, construction status, and anticipated service commencement dates. It's important to include a signature and the date on the application to confirm the validity of the request. The instructions emphasize the importance of submitting a complete application to avoid delays and ensure compliance with PECO's Electric Service Requirements manual. Applicants are also reminded of the necessity of a credit application if the customer hasn't had PECO service in the last 60 days, and the possibility of request cancellation if no communication is received within 90 days of PECO's response. The instructions also highlight the need to contact PECO for information regarding service availability, meter location, and any required inspections by approved agencies.

Important Details about Peco Service And Meter Application

Who needs to complete the PECO Service and Meter Application form?

The PECO Service and Meter Application form must be completed by anyone requesting a new service, a load increase or decrease, reintroduction of service, temporary service, service upgrade or changes, or demolition which involves removing electric or gas facilities. This includes homeowners, builders, contractors, and electricians planning to initiate or modify electric service.

What information is required on the application?

The application requires several pieces of critical information including the customer's name and service location, billing address or PECO account number, electrician or builder's details including tax identification number, current construction status, type of request (e.g., new service, load increase), type of service, service and meter characteristics, load characteristics, motor information if applicable, and any additional comments. A signature and date by the applicant are also mandatory for the application to be processed.

How can I submit the application and what happens after submission?

The application can be submitted by mail or fax to the PECO regional office responsible for the service area where the new or modified service is requested. After submission, the application will be reviewed for completeness and compliance with PECO Electric Service Requirements. Incomplete information may delay processing. The company will communicate its response, which may include a service request number and further instructions or request for additional information. It's important to note that PECO may cancel the request if no further communication is received within 90 days of their response.

Is a credit application required?

Yes, a credit application and agreement must be completed if the customer has not had PECO service within the last 60 days. This step is crucial to establishing creditworthiness and ensuring timely initiation of service.

What should I do if I need to demolish a building and require PECO to remove electric or gas facilities?

If demolishing a building and electric or gas facilities need to be removed, it's essential to call 8-1-1 (PA ONE CALL) for a demolition request. This will help in coordinating the safe removal of such services.

How is the service type and phase determined?

The type of service (residential, commercial, industrial, etc.) and the service phasing (single phase, two phase, or three phase) are determined based on the initial construction plans and estimated peak load requirements submitted with the application. PECO will advise on the availability of service types and voltages in the area, and the company may adjust the customer's procurement class annually based on actual usage. The meter location and requirements, including advance notifications and customer billing, will also be defined through this process.

Common mistakes

Filling out the PECO Service and Meter Application form is an integral step for obtaining necessary utilities for residential or commercial properties. However, this task often comes with pitfalls that can lead to delays or complications in service provisioning. The following elucidates five common mistakes people make during this process.

A significant error is when applicants fail to accurately select the type of service request. With options ranging from new service installations to service upgrades or relocations, the choice dictates the processing pathway of the application. Misclassification can result in improper handling, causing avoidable setbacks.

Another oversight is the incomplete or incorrect provision of the location information where the service is required. Particularly, the requirement to include a utility pole number or lot number, when applicable, is often missed. This specific detail is crucial for PECO to locate the site efficiently, especially in areas where addresses might not provide sufficient clarity.

The application also requires the electrician or contractor's Tax Identification Number and specific reply details, areas frequently overlooked. This information is vital to ensure that communication regarding the application flows smoothly and reaches the correct parties in a timely manner. Without it, there is a risk of delays in processing or miscommunication.

Inadequately detailing the characteristics of new or additional load can also lead to challenges. This section helps PECO understand the demand that will be placed on their network, influencing decisions on infrastructure needs. Failing to provide complete details or underestimating the load can lead to insufficient service provision, which may require future, costly corrections.

Lastly, a common mistake is not including the necessary enclosures, such as site plans or diagrams, with the application. These documents are essential for PECO to assess the project comprehensively. Lack of this accompanying information might not only delay the application process but can also lead to incorrect service installation, which could have been avoided with a complete initial submission.

In summary, attentiveness to the type of service requested, accurate location details, proper identification and communication information for contractors, precise load characteristics, and the inclusion of necessary enclosures are paramount for a smooth PECO Service and Meter Application process. Avoiding these mistakes can significantly expedite service setup and mitigate any unnecessary complications.

Documents used along the form

When submitting the PECO Service And Meter Application form, various other forms and documents are typically required to ensure a comprehensive and compliant submission. These additional forms play a crucial role in providing detailed information about the project, the site, and specific requirements or limitations that may affect service delivery. Understanding these documents can simplify the application process.

  1. Site Plans: Detailed drawings showing the layout of the property, including locations for electrical services, meters, and relevant infrastructure.
  2. Single Line Diagrams: A simplified notation that represents the distribution of electrical power in the project. It helps in planning the electrical system layout.
  3. Substation Arrangement Documents: For projects requiring high power loads, these documents detail the setup and specifications of any needed substations.
  4. Credit Application and Agreement: This form is necessary if the customer has not had PECO service in the past 60 days. It assesses creditworthiness for billing purposes.
  5. Underwriter's Certification: A document stating that the electrical installations meet approved standards. It's often required to commence service.
  6. ACT 222 Certification: Required for specific projects, indicating compliance with certain regulatory standards or conditions.
  7. PA One Call Verification: Confirms that the necessary call to 811 has been made to ensure no underground utilities are disturbed during construction.
  8. Customer Permit Documentation: Permits from the city or local municipality may be needed for electrical work or for certain types of constructions and installations.
  9. Demolition Request Forms: If the project involves demolition, a form indicating coordination with PECO for the removal of existing services or meters is required.

It's important for applicants to gather and complete these forms accurately to avoid any delays in the process. Each document provides critical information that supports the main application, ensuring that electrical services can be provided safely, efficiently, and in compliance with local regulations. For those unsure about the requirements, it's recommended to consult with an experienced electrician or contractor who is familiar with the process.

Similar forms

The PECO Service and Meter Application form shares similarities with a Utility Service Application for new residential constructions. Both applications require detailed information about the project location, type of service requested (e.g., electrical, gas), and customer contact details. They also need technical specifics about the service requirements, such as phase, volts, and wires, ensuring the utility company can provide adequate service to meet the construction's demands.

Another document resembling the PECO form is the Building Permit Application. This similarity lies in the necessity to detail the construction status, provide project descriptions, and include diagrams if necessary. Both forms serve as a preliminary step to ensure all construction complies with local regulations and utility company requirements before work begins.

An Electrical Inspection Certificate is also akin to the PECO application, particularly where the form requires using the service address for an underwriter's inspection. This underscores the importance of safety and compliance with electrical standards, ensuring the installation meets specific guidelines before service can be initiated or continued.

The Contractor's License Registration form resembles the section of the PECO application that collects information about the electrician or builder responsible for the construction. Both documents require the contractor’s details, including name, address, and identification numbers, to verify the legitimacy and qualifications of the professionals undertaking the project.

A Site Plan Submission is another document with significant parallels. Both the site plan and the PECO application require detailed descriptions of the site, including its layout, the location of utilities, and any specific characteristics pertinent to the service installation. This information helps in planning and executing the necessary infrastructure to support the service.

The Customer Credit Application component of the PECO form has counterparts in many service-related applications where a new customer relationship is being established. It's essential for assessing the creditworthiness of the applicant to ensure they can fulfill financial obligations associated with the service provided, mirroring procedures in telecom or other utility services.

A Demolition Request form also has similarities, especially in cases where the PECO application involves removing electrical or gas facilities due to demolition. Both forms involve notifying utility companies and obtaining clearance before proceeding with demolition, highlighting the importance of safety and coordination with service providers.

Lastly, a Zoning Compliance Certificate resonates with aspects of the PECO application that require acknowledgment of local zoning laws and regulations. Just as zoning compliance ensures that construction aligns with municipal guidelines, the PECO application ensures that service requests comply with utility regulations and capacities.

Dos and Don'ts

When you're filling out the PECO Service And Meter Application form, there are critical steps you should follow to ensure the process goes smoothly. Below, find lists of things you should and shouldn't do.

What You Should Do:

  1. Read the instructions at the top of the application carefully to understand the form requirements and locate the PECO regional office for your service request.

  2. Fill out all required fields including your name, service location, PECO billing address or account number, electrician or contractor information, and the type of service and characteristics requested.

  3. Include your Tax Identification Number or Social Security Number as now required for customer identification purposes.

  4. Indicate your current construction status accurately, including the date service is requested, to avoid any potential delays in service initiation.

  5. Sign and date the application. An unsigned form may not be processed.

What You Shouldn't Do:

  • Do not leave any required fields blank. Incomplete information can result in delays in processing your application.

  • Avoid using vague terms like "as soon as possible" for the service requested date. Be specific to ensure timely processing.

  • Do not forget to include additional documentation, such as site plans or single line diagrams, if applicable to your request.

  • Resist the urge to guess or estimate information about load characteristics or other technical details. Ensure accuracy by consulting with a professional if necessary.

Misconceptions

When working with the PECO Service And Meter Application form, it's easy to stumble upon misconceptions that can complicate the process. Let's tackle some common misunderstandings:

  • Every section must be filled out by the customer: Not all sections of the form apply to every applicant. Some fields are relevant only for specific types of service or customer situations. It's important to read instructions carefully to determine which parts you need to complete based on your circumstances.
  • Personal identification numbers are optional: It's a requirement to include a Tax ID number or Social Security number. This information is essential for processing your application and establishing your account.
  • You can use the form immediately for any type of request: While the form accommodates various service requests, including new connections and modifications, each request type has specific instructions and requirements. Ensure your application aligns with your exact service need.
  • PECO decides the service location: The applicant must provide a detailed service location, including a site plan if necessary. This information is crucial for PECO to understand where to establish or modify the service.
  • Service and meter details should be based on current needs only: When filling out the form, consider both your current and future electricity needs. Forecasting helps ensure your service is adequate over time, preventing unnecessary adjustments later.
  • Submission methods are limited: You can return the completed form to PECO through various channels, including mail or fax. Choose the method that is most convenient for you, ensuring it reaches the regional office associated with your service area.
  • Demolition requests are unrelated: If you're demolishing a building and need PECO to remove electric or gas facilities, this form mentions the necessity of contacting PA One Call. It’s a critical step, separate from the typical service and meter requests.

Understanding these points can simplify the application process, making it smoother to initiate or modify your electrical service with PECO. Remember, each section of the form connects to specific requirements and instructions aimed at ensuring that you receive the correct service based on your individual or business needs.

Key takeaways

When filing the PECO Service And Meter Application form, it's important to carefully follow the outlined instructions to ensure efficient processing. Here are key takeaways to guide you through the process:

  • Identify the correct PECO regional office for your service request based on the service location, and submit the completed application to that office either by mail or fax.
  • Provide accurate information regarding the customer's name, service location, and contact details, including either a Driver's License Number or Social Security Number, as these are necessary for the application process.
